MADDOX RACING – ABOUT US

Our facility is located in NE Ohio in a great location for racing with two Ohio race tracks (ThistleDown Racino and Mahoning Valley Racino) within 45 minutes away and Presque Isle and Mountaineer about 90 minutes away. The 40 acre training facility is near the small village of Garrettsville and is equipped with 1 barn containing 14 stalls, 5 run-in stalls and room to build an additional 9 stalls. Our training area consist of round pens, a large turn-out paddock, a small sand riding arena, and a 5 horse Euro-xiser. Because of our firm belief in the benefit of swimming horses, there are plans to have swimming pond as soon as possible. The property has plenty of room for roaming and grazing with 30 acres of fenced pasture that is separated into 4 turn-out areas with shelter.

In 1993, we started our venture with horses in a small town in Oklahoma. Our first students were Quarter Horses and just by answering an ad in the local newspaper, we jumped head first into the Thoroughbred racing industry. Six years later, we found ourselves moving our whole operation to NE Ohio where we have branched out our business to include breeding. It all started with the purchase of Risk and Reward, by Kris S, for racing purposes. Because he had decent bloodlines, the heart of a racehorse, great conformation, and the temperament of an old trail horse, we began to use him as a stallion for raising Ohio registered horses.
